What does the Bible say about welcoming strangers?
Israel was told to love the foreigner, remembering they were once strangers themselves, and Jesus identified Himself with those who need welcome.
What Scripture says
Leviticus 19:33-34
““‘If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
Deuteronomy 10:18-19
“He executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner in giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.”
Matthew 25:35
“for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in.”
Hebrews 13:2
“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.”
