What does the Bible say about music?
Music runs through Scripture, from harps in the temple to songs in prison, as a way the heart speaks to God.
What Scripture says
Psalm 150:3-5
“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet! Praise him with harp and lyre! Praise him with tambourine and dancing! Praise him with stringed instruments and flute! Praise him with loud cymbals! Praise him with resounding cymbals!”
Colossians 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.”
1 Samuel 16:23
“When the spirit from God was on Saul, David took the harp and played with his hand; so Saul was refreshed and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”
Psalm 33:3
“Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy!”
