What does the Bible say about caring for the environment?
Humanity is placed in the garden to work and keep it, which many read as a call to care rather than to consume.
What Scripture says
Genesis 2:15
“The LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.”
Psalm 24:1
“The earth is the LORD’s, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell in it.”
Leviticus 25:4-5
“but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard. What grows of itself in your harvest you shall not reap, and you shall not gather the grapes of your undressed vine. It shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.”
Revelation 11:18
“The nations were angry, and your wrath came, as did the time for the dead to be judged, and to give your bondservants the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints and those who fear your name, to the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.””
