What does the Bible say about adultery?
Adultery breaks a covenant and is forbidden in the commandments, yet Scripture also shows God's mercy toward those who repent, as Jesus did with the woman brought before Him.
What Scripture says
Exodus 20:14
““You shall not commit adultery.”
Matthew 5:27-28
““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Proverbs 6:32
“He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.”
John 8:10-11
“Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.””
