When life is heavy

What does the Bible say about chronic pain?

Paul asked three times for relief and received grace instead. Scripture holds space for pain that does not lift, and a presence that does not leave.

What Scripture says

2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me. He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.”
