What does the Bible say about speaking in tongues?
Paul writes about tongues at length, valuing them while insisting on order and understanding. Churches differ on their place today.

1 Corinthians 14:2
“For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.”
1 Corinthians 14:39-40
“Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking with other languages. Let all things be done decently and in order.”
Acts 2:4
“They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.”
