What does the Bible say about the rapture?
Paul describes believers being caught up to meet the Lord. Christians hold different views about its timing relative to tribulation.
What Scripture says
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.”
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
“Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.”
Matthew 24:40-41
“Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and one will be left.”
John 14:3
“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.”
