Living and character
What does the Bible say about gambling?
Gambling is not named directly, yet Scripture speaks plainly about the love of money, get-rich-quick schemes and caring for what God has entrusted to you.
What Scripture says
1 Timothy 6:9-10
“But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Proverbs 13:11
“Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.”
Hebrews 13:5
“Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.””
Luke 16:10
“He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”
