What does the Bible say about infertility?

Scripture does not hide the ache of childlessness. Hannah, Sarah and Elizabeth all carried it, and all were met by a God who heard them.

What Scripture says

1 Samuel 1:10-11

She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly. She vowed a vow, and said, “LORD of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”

Psalm 113:9

He settles the barren woman in her home as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!

Genesis 21:1-2

The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had spoken. Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

Luke 1:13

But the angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
